The Omnivore's Dilemma
Although The Omnivore's Dilemma by Micheal Pollen was my least favorite book this year, it was very informative. Thanks to this book, many important facts about our food were brought to my attention. It got me to think about how safe our food really is. It shocking how much that big food companies can hide from us. One of the main focuses of The Omnivore's Dilemma was how much corn is involved in everything we eat. Corn is involved in feeding livestock, making junk food (like chips, cereal, even soft drinks), and its on most fresh vegetables as a wax. Another main point was how livestock is raised, fed and killed. Many parts of this section made me sick to my stomach. The animals aren't treated like living things, but rather a product. Overall, this book was very interesting and was definitely worth reading. Below are some annotations that I made while reading this book.
